The remote worker’s guide to Lisbon
Where to work, what it costs, when to go.

Lisbon has become one of Europe’s favorite cities for remote work: mild winters, good coffee, fast internet and a time zone that works with both the US and Europe.
Where to work
For a full day with calls, book a coworking day pass. Lumen Coworking in Santos has the fastest connection we tested, and day passes cost €15 to €20. For quiet focus, the public reading rooms are free and silent, though Sala Azul Library closes for lunch. Cafés are best for a few hours: Estufa is our favorite for weekday mornings.
“Before ten, almost every table in Lisbon is yours. By noon, the good ones are taken.”
When to go
Mornings are calm everywhere. Lunch runs from 12:30 to 14:30, so plan a break. For late work, Cais Night Desk opens three nights a week until 02:00, and the lounge at Hotel Miradouro never closes.
What it costs
Working from Lisbon is affordable. Here is what a day costs, depending on where you sit:
A coffee: €1.50 to €3, with an order every couple of hours
A coworking day pass: €15 to €20, coffee included
A reading room: free, sometimes with an ID at the desk
A hotel lobby: the price of a drink
